Summary
I am a leader and innovator in web technology, able to design and implement efficient solutions to challenging problems. I have wide experience in designing and programming web sites using ASP and ASP.NET, and in developing rich Internet applications on a variety of platforms. I have also spent the last 12 years managing and leading a team of designers and developers in creating large, complex sites and delivering within tight timescales.
Achievements
- Designed and implemented bespoke real-time analytics solution for the company Intranet, allowing corporate data to be kept in-house, and saving tens of thousands of pounds compared to equivalent commercially available solutions
- Created crawler and search solution for company sites: bespoke code utilising open-source software including Lucene.Net, saving $60,000 compared to equivalent version of Google Search Appliance
- Completed updates to company Intranet design and information architecture in 3 weeks, saving £20,000 on design consultancy work, and involving updates to the design and navigation of over three thousand content items
- Devised an office plan (in 2002, prior to Google Maps or similar products) which allowed support personnel to see the layout of the corporate offices and the location and details of each employee, improving the customer’s support experience and reducing the time required for a site visit
- Designed and developed an ASP framework to allow for complex workflow automation using web-based forms, saving up to 5 man-days per process which has been used over 105,000 times so far
- Created a bespoke absence management solution for the company Intranet, allowing for centralised control and workflow-based approvals for the enterprise, recording nearly 100,000 absences to date
- Worked as designed and developer on an award-winning web site – winner of Microsoft Digital Britain Award 2000 in the “Best use of IT for improved decision making” category for ClassDirect Live
